Ashley Wilson joined the women's basketball coaching staff in the summer of 2012.
Wilson starred for the Fire from 2010-2012, and was named a Second Team All-Sun Conference player last year as she averaged 9.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. In 2011, Wilson was a NCCAA First Team All-Region selection as she posted 10.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.1 steals on the season.
"Ashley’s passion for basketball and her knowledge of the Fire basketball program will be invaluable to us," said Watson. "I appreciate her willingness to help out and am excited to see her develop as a coach."
She transferred to Southeastern from Florida Southern College in 2010, as she appeared in 16 games for the Mocs in the 2009-10 season. Before playing for FSC, Wilson attended Covenant College from 2008-09, and was named Third Team All-Conference while also making the conference's All-Freshmen Team.
Prior to her collegiate career, Wilson was a standout at nearby Lakeland Christian School, where she was named First Team All-Conference her senior year.
She recently graduated from Southeastern this past spring with a pre-med degree.
AT SOUTHEASTERN
SENIOR (2011-12): Named a Second Team All-Sun Conference player last year as she averaged 9.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 steals per game...Opened the season with 16 points and a season high four steals versus nationally ranked Southern Oregon...Scored a season high 17 points, on 7-of-10 shooting versus Florida Memorial on 1/20/2012.
JUNIOR (2010-2011): Appeared in all 29 games...Selected First Team NCCAA D-I All-South Region...Recipient of the Women's Basketball Teammate of the Year Award...Finished the season second in scoring with 10.3 points per game, along with 4.7 rebounds and 2.9 assist per game...Scored 28 points, pulled down five rebounds, and collected two steals against Warner University on 1/18/2011...Poured in 20 points with three rebounds, five assists, and two steals in a victory over Johnson & Wales on 1/14/2011...Recorded a double double on 1/29/2011 against Webber International University with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
PREVIOUS SCHOOL
SOPHOMORE (2009-2010): Played in 16 games at Florida Southern College.
FRESHMAN (2008-2009): Played at Covenant College…Averaged 15 points per game…Third Team All-Conference…All-Freshman Team…Starter 2008-2009…Best Game: 32 points.
HIGH SCHOOL: Lakeland Christian averaged 14 points per game...Second Team All-Conference…First Team All-County senior year…Team captain two years…Best Game: 38 points.
