Looking Back at 2010-2011 Season

A team picture of the 2010-2011 SEU Fire Cheerleading SquadStarting this season on a new note was the Southeastern Cheerleading squad. The team consisted of 24 girls, a whole lot of potential, which equaled an unforgettable season. Beginning the year with a motivating weekend retreat in Sarasota, the leaders and teammates created their three core values for their team; loyalty, passion, and servant leadership.
The leaders and teammates applied loyalty to each of their relationships to build lasting and strong friendships, and the upcoming season gave the girls a chance to know new people, and establish connections between unlikely individuals. They began with a passionate desire to cheer on, not only the basketball teams, but also soccer and volleyball teams.
Every cheerleader also served the Southeastern community in many different ways, including participating in ‘The game of the Week’ promotions for the SEU Athletics Department.
During the fall semester, the Fire cheerleaders helped promote all the week’s big games while also creating a great sense of school spirit. Above all this season, the girls were committed to being servants of the student body and to the community of Southeastern. Looking back at the season will bring great memories to several new cheerleaders as well as returners.
“My favorite part about the season was always learning something new,” said Jessica Swindal, who was a new addition to this year’s squad with great potential. Most girls are prepared to create even more memories with new girls who are potentially trying out for next year’s team.
“My favorite part of the season was bonding with everyone and being challenged to improve constantly, even though everything we went through, we came out strong and I can't wait to bring that momentum into next season,” said team captain Megan Linder.
