The Fire Blank the Skyhawks In Season Finale

Box Score

Lakeland, Fla.- The Southeastern University women's soccer team took on the Skyhawks from Point University.  It was the regular season finale for the Fire and they won convincingly by a final of 4-0.

The first half belonged to the Fire as they dominated possession of the ball and did not allow the Skyhawks to get a shot off the entire first half.  The Fire scored in the 18th minute of the game when they were awarded a corner, it was taken by Melodie Kepto and she crossed it into the box where Sophia Eplin headed it on into the net for the first score of the game.

The second half saw Southeastern dominate every minute, they did not let up after their first half and dominated both sides of the ball.  The Skyhawks did not record their first shot of the game until there were ten minutes left.  The back line of Emily Kearns, Ashly Duren, Kayce Martin and Anna Hall were a solid wall that Point were unable to get past the entire game.

The offense scored three times in the second half, the first goal came in the 58th minute when Jessica Crowe received a pass from Melodie Kepto and beat Point's goalie.  The Fire came back with their third goal in the 86th minute when Crowe passed a ball across net that Ally Larese forwarded on with her head to Kepto who put the ball away for a 3-0 lead.  Just two minutes later Kepto scored her second goal of the game after she chipped the ball over the Skyhawks goalie.

Kepto was dominate on offense as she tallied six points on the day, she scored twice and assisted twice to propel the Fire to a finale win.

The Fire will be in action next Thursday afternoon in the Sun Conference tournament against Webber International at Babson Park, Fla.
