Women's Soccer Loses a Tight Match On Senior Night

Box Score

Lakeland, Fla.- Southeastern University women's soccer team played Ursuline College Arrows Friday evening, the Fire were unable to come away with the win losing a tightly contested match by a score of 2-1.

The Fire celebrated the college careers of seven of their seniors tonight as they honored Emily Kearns, Ally Larese, Lorin Ressler, Lindsay Millar, Melodie Kepto, Sianna Davis and Kelsey Anthony.  This class of seniors have a career record of 39-31-1 with one game remaining in the regular season.

The first half was played well by both teams, each team saw a period of dominance on the ball to where the other team could not get the ball out of their half of the field.  Both Southeastern and Ursuline had shots on goal, but neither team was able to make anything out of those opportunities.

The second half belonged to the Arrows as they scored twice and only allowed the Fire to net one goal.  Four minutes into the second half, Ursuline scored on a shot from about 25 yards away that squirted through the hands of Fire goalie Karleigh Smoak.  Southeastern answered six minutes later when Emily Kearns hit a ball over the top to Jessica Crowe who then beat Ursuline's goalie to make the score 1-1.  Ursuline countered in the 70th minute with another shot from long range that beat substitute goalie Lisa Jadick.  The goal put the Fire down 2-1 and they were unable to make anything happen after that point.

Southeastern wraps up their regular season play Monday afternoon October, 22 when they take on Point University at 4:30 p.m. in Lakeland, Fla.
