The Fire and Bee's Play to Draw

Box Score

Lakeland, Fla.- The Southeastern Fire women's soccer team played Savannah College of Art & Design Saturday afternoon, and the two teams played to a 2-2 tie after 110 minutes could not determine a winner.

Southeastern scored quickly after kickoff to take a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute of the game.  Jessica Crowe received a pass from Sianna Davis after a nice counter attack from the Fire, and Crowe put the ball past SCAD goalie Sara Hall to make the score 1-0.  Thirteen minutes later the Fire scored again as Ally Larese chipped the ball over the goalie, and Jessica Crowe finished the play off by tapping the ball into the back of the net.

SCAD dominated the second half from the kickoff until the end of the half, they out shot the Fire in the second half twelve to three and outscored them two to zero.  The first goal for the Bee's came when Nikki Wattki was taken down in the box and awarded a penalty kick.  Shelby Dieckamp stepped up to take the penalty kick and placed in past Fire goalie Karleigh Smoak

Southeastern withstood a barrage from SCAD over the next 20 minutes and the catalyst of the defense was senior Anna Hall.  However with four minutes remaining in the game, Bee's forward Lisa Singleton took a shot on net that Smoak got her hands on, but she did not get enough of it and the score went to two all.

In the overtime's neither team was able to push a ball past the opposing goalie.  Both teams fought hard for 110 minutes and came out with a 2-2 tie to end the game.

The Fire will be playing again October, 17th against Ave Maria University in Ave Maria at 4p.m.
