Volleyball Splits Tri-Match

Lakeland, Fla. - The Southeastern University volleyball team split two matches as a part of a tri-match with Trinity College and St. Thomas University on Saturday afternoon in the Sportsplex.

Despite being without the services of starting setter Tara McSherley, the Fire cruised past Trinity College in the day’s opener by scores of 25-13, 25-15, and 25-14.

Madeline Hanshaw led the Fire with nine kills followed closely by Morgan Lehman, Christi Limpert, and Nicolette Sawicki who all had eight kills apiece. Allison Lewen distributed the ball to record 33 assists.

The second match of the day was a different story as St. Thomas University took town the fire by scores of 25-22, 27-25, and 25-22 to conclude the day’s action.

Lehman added nine kills and Lewen added to her assist total with 22 more in the three set defeat.

Up next, the Fire have back-to-back non-conference home matches this Monday and Tuesday. Monday the Fire take on the University of Saint Francis (Ill.) and on Tuesday the Fire host Florida College. Both matches start at 7 p.m.
