Women's Soccer Fall to No. 4 Embry-Riddle in Season Opener

Daytona Beach, Fla. – No. 4 ranked Embry-Riddle University overpowered the Southeastern University women’s soccer team in an 8-0 season opening defeat Saturday night.
The first half of the match was tightly contested as
the match remained scoreless until the 36th minute of the opening
half. The Eagles struck first with a
shot from Martine Olsen from just outside the box that found the upper left
corner of the goal just out of the reach of Fire goalie Karleigh Smoak. The Eagles struck again less than a minute
later to make it 2-0 going into the half.
As the second half began the Fire looked to rekindle
the play of the first 35 minutes of the game, however, two minutes into the
second half the Eagles scored again with their third goal of the match. ERAU found their stride as they followed up
with five more goals in the next 25 minutes to account for the 8-0 final.
The Fire look to bounce back on Friday when the host
Clearwater Christian College in the home opener. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. in Lakeland.
