Coach May Announces 16 New Men's Tennis Signees

LAKELAND--With the announcement of the addition of men's tennis back in January, new head coach Bill May had the difficult task of building a new program in a short amount of time. Coach May however has most certainly been up to the challenge, as he recently announced his 2012 men's tennis recruiting class. The class consists of 16 signees; which includes nine true freshmen, three transfer students, and four current Southeastern students.

Akeem Byron: a transfer from Georgia Perimeter College, Akeem is an outstanding player who finished his junior college career ranked No. 2 nationally in doubles, and No. 58 nationally in singles. He played his high school tennis at Atlantic Community High School, in Delray Beach, Fla. Akeem will be working on becoming eligible for the 2012-13 season, but in the meantime will be involved heavily with other team duties.
David Adams: an incoming freshman with a very strong tennis background, he played No. 1 singles at Johnson High School and Islands High School, in Savannah, Ga. During his career he had a combined record of 28-5, and advanced to the Georgia High School State Championships.
Jordan Harris: an incoming freshman from Jamaica, Jordan is ranked No. 1,228 internationally and a represents his country as a Junior Davis Cup team member. Jordan has trained at the International Tennis Academy, and played his high school tennis at American Heritage High School at Delray Beach, and at Morningside Academy in Port St. Lucia, Fla. He has been a champion or finalists in many Caribbean and South America tournaments.
Logan Allen: an incoming freshman from Auburndale, Fla., Logan is the No. 1 player from his high school. During his senior season, Allen captured both the singles and doubles championships for his district, and led his team to a district team championship, the first for the Bloodhounds in many years.
Evan Eliason: an incoming freshman from Endicott, N.Y., Evan is the No. 1 player from his high school. During his career, Eliason posted a remarkable 36-0 career record in singles, for Sidney High School, in the MAC conference, and has advanced deeply into the New York State sectional rounds.
Andrew Dickens: an incoming freshman from Circle Christian School in Orlando, Fla., Andrew is the No. 1 player for his school. He is ranked No. 83 in Florida, and ranked in the top 10 in Region 4 of the USTA while also being a Top 100 in 2-Star recruit. Dickens was 29-4 overall in his junior and senior years combined.
Will May: a transfer student for the State University of New York at Brockport, Will is an outstanding multi-sport athlete, and was a strong tennis player at the junior levels in Indiana. He arrives at Southeastern having been a multi-sport athlete from Unatego High School in New York, and a college football student-athlete at SUNY Brockport.
Daniel Kane: a transfer from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas, Daniel was the No. 1 player for Miami Senior High School, in Miami, Fla. Kane is a strong player with an extensive tournament background.
Forrest Saunders: already a student at Southeastern University, Forrest is a Pre-Med major. Saunders was an outstanding high school tennis player at Foundation Academy in Winter Garden, Fla., playing No. 1 singles and earning Most Valuable Player honors for his team on five occasions. He earned a combined singles and doubles record of 27-7 his senior year in high school.
Richard Green: an incoming freshman from Fort Meade, Fla., Richard is the No. 1 singles and doubles player from his high school, and has been since the ninth grade. He was All-County Honorable Mention, and finished this year with a combine singles and doubles record of 23-11.
Kyle Kunnen: already a student at Southeastern University, Kyle was an outstanding junior tennis player, being ranked No. 1 in Florida as a young junior player, and is a multi-sport athlete, also being a talented baseball player.
Robert Laskin: already a student at Southeastern University, Robert is a talented lefty with deadly ground strokes and a big serve.
Brett Truitt: an incoming freshman from All-Saints Academy in Winter Haven, Fla., Truitt was the No. 4 singles player for his team, which is one of the top programs in the state. He is also a talented doubles player.
Thomas Stanford: an incoming freshman from Lakeland, Fla., Thomas is the No. 1 player for Santa Fe Catholic High School. Stanford was his team MVP for the three years, and was a finalist in the 32nd Annual Lakeland Pro-Am Tournament.
Forrest Simmers: an incoming freshman from Lakeland High School, in Lakeland, Fla., Forrest is a strong player who qualified for the Florida High School State Tennis Championships in doubles, and was his team’s No. 2 singles player.
Luke Witte: already a student at Southeastern University, Luke is from Lakeland where he played tennis at Quincy Senior High School. During his varsity experience, Luke has a record of 14-13, and was named Most-Improved Player for his team.
