SEU Loses 8th Straight Conference Game
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.--Southeastern University lost their eighth straight Sun Conference game, Friday afternoon, this time being shutout by Northwood University, 2-0.
Northwood (21-21, 5-16) starting pitcher, Jordan Rawlyk, tossed a complete game shutout, holding the Fire offense to just eight hits on the night. Rawlyk did not allow an extra base hit in the game, and struck out eight batters to improve to 4-4 on the season.
SEU starting pitcher, Justin Mauldin, did everything he could on the mound to give the Fire a chance. He threw 7.1 innings, allowing eight hits and just two earned runs.
Northwood's Kelvin Johnson broke up a scoreless game in the bottom of the seventh inning, when he belted a two-run homer off of Mauldin, chasing him from the game. Mauldin took the loss on the hill, and has now dropped his past six conference starts, falling to 5-6 overall on the season.
Northwood's Angel Garcia finished a perfect 3-for-3 with a run scored while Gus MacLao ended 2-for-4 with a double.
Billy Glessner, Adam Kemp, and Armando Alvarez all had two hits apiece for the Fire.
Southeastern (23-24, 6-16) has now lost five straight games, and falls under the .500 mark for the first time since February 4th.
The two teams will play a double-header on Saturday, with game one scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
